To coordinate, regulate, promote and advocate for youth development in Malawi and empower all young people to effectively and inclusively participate in economic, civic, governance and political development of the country and their communities
Impact
Improved socio-economic and political outcomes of youth development in Malawi through increased participation in national development
Who We Are
The National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) is a statutory corporation established by the National Assembly of Malawi Act (No. 22 of 1996).
NYCOM was established after government realized that there was immediate need for proper coordination of youth programmes, following the mushrooming of various youth-serving and youth-led organizations and an exponential rise in the interest of other non-state actors to participate in the youth sector.
Structurally, NYCOM is an implementing arm of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and comprises the Annual General Assembly – which is the highest decision-making body, the Board of Directors, the Secretariat, and affiliates (registered youth organizations).

Message from Our Executive Director
As the Executive Director of the National Youth Council of Malawi, I am proud to present the NYCOM Strategic Plan for 2024-2030, a blueprint that aligns with the National Youth Policy and the broader government development agenda, particularly the youth-focused Malawi 2063 Vision.
This plan is built on seven key pillars: youth economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and innovation; youth participation, representation, and inclusion; youth health, gender, and social inclusion; transparent, inclusive, and responsive governance and management; resource mobilization, diversification, and sustainability; affiliate and stakeholder coordination and engagement; and monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL).
Through these strategic focus areas, we are committed to empowering young people, fostering innovation, and ensuring meaningful youth participation in national development. By strengthening partnerships, enhancing governance, and creating sustainable opportunities, we aim to build a future where young people are at the forefront of driving progress and achieving Malawi’s long-term vision.
